Fellowship includes union and communion. We are called to be partakers of Christ; partakers of his life, as members of his body; and herefore, partakers of his character, of his sufferings here and of his glory hereafter.

What it did was to guarantee that the old morality was actually valid, and the old beliefs literally true.
