The discoveries of modern physical and biological science, of astronomy, and of psychology, have profoundly influenced his conception of the "size" of God. If there be a Mind behind the immense complexities of the phenomena that man can observe, then it is that of a Being tremendous in His power and wisdom: it is emphatically not that of a little god. It is perfectly conceivable that such a Being has a moral purpose which is being worked out on the stage of this small planet. It is even possible to believe that such a God deliberately reduced Himself to the stature of humanity in order to visit the earth in Person, as all Christians affirm.

Popularity is not leadership.

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/47705

Popularity is not leadership.

The husband who wants a happy marriage should learn to keep his mouth shut and his checkbook open

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/20185

The husband who wants a happy marriage should learn to keep his mouth shut and his checkbook open

I've been frustrated as a council member in the past, whenever we get donated open space it's never usable. But this distinction is only a very small part of the difference, and as such is in itself incorrect. Both of these words may convey intense emotion or may be relatively weak in their meanings. These words do not indicate degree of love, but kinds of love. Agapao refers to love which arises from a keen sense of the value and worth in the object of our love, and phileo describes the emotional attachment which results from intimate and prolonged association. That is why in the Scriptures we are never commanded to "love" with the word phileo. Even when husbands and wives are instructed to love one another, the word agapao is used, for it is impossible to command that kind of love which can arise only from intimate association. On the other hand, the saints are admonished to appreciate profoundly the worth and value in others, and agapao is used to convey this meaning. All Christians are not necessarily to have sentimental attachments for one another (phileo). This would be impossible, for our circle of intimate friends is limited by the nature of our lives. But we can all be commanded to appreciate intensely the worth of others.

If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/2506

If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.

I just felt like reflecting on my junior year, when I didn't know what I was doing, I left a ...

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/41472

I just felt like reflecting on my junior year, when I didn't know what I was doing, I left a lot of stuff out there.
