This sentiment sometimes has even the hardiness to insinuate and maintain itself under the guise of extraordinary concern for practical religion; but it soon discovers the falsehood of this pretension, and betrays its real nature. The expedient, indeed, of attaining to superiority in practice by not wasting any of the attention on the internal principles from which alone practice can flow, is about as reasonable, and will answer about as well, as the economy of an architect who should account it mere prodigality to expend any of his materials in laying foundation, from an idea that they might be more usefully applied to the raising of the superstructure. We know what would be the fate of such an edifice.

Feast of John and Charles Wesley, Priests, Poets, Teachers, 1791 & 1788 Wherever riches have increased, the essence of ...

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/7080

Feast of John and Charles Wesley, Priests, Poets, Teachers, 1791 & 1788 Wherever riches have increased, the essence of religion has decreased in the same proportion. Therefore I do not see how it is possible in the nature of things for any revival of religion to continue long. For religion must necessarily produce both industry and frugality, and these cannot but produce riches. But as riches increase, so will pride, anger, and love of the world in all its branches. How then is it possible that Methodism, that is a religion of the heart, though it flourishes now as the green bay tree, should continue in this state? For the Methodists in every place grow diligent and frugal; consequently, they increase in goods. Hence, they proportionately increase in pride, in anger, in the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life. So, although the form of religion remains, the spirit is swiftly vanishing away. Is there no way to prevent ... this continual decay of pure religion?

…a few philosophers really do important work. You may split it into different parts if you'd like - right now I'll put it as Unsorted. And He feels so incredibly weak when he has ferociously quarreled against them since his genuine years and has lost. His hopes for a better understanding dissipate as he grows older, and his mind grows less eager to reach a verdict. Having no sense of direction, he roams here, looking above, asking futile questions, even though the answers may be feared. Good by nature, he has learned his survival skills, which will lead him into the real world, and will someday make him a successful individual. Wishing the pressure did not exist, it is a natural instinct to adapt and not to recluse. He rather is a mindless drone than a lonely Hermit, after all. He has no control over his environment, it is the exact opposite. Molded and shaped by his surroundings, he seeks about for himself and his purpose, while this mold slowly deteriorates organic matter.

Ah, well, then I suppose I shall have to die beyond my means.

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/15240

Ah, well, then I suppose I shall have to die beyond my means.

Magic has always been an element of Witchcraft, but in the Craft its techniques were practiced within a context of ...

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/61847

Magic has always been an element of Witchcraft, but in the Craft its techniques were practiced within a context of community and connection.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, ...

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/64694

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

It [revenge] is sweeter far than flowing honey.

http://maxioms.com/maxiom/54084

It [revenge] is sweeter far than flowing honey.
