The properties listed here are for rounded, highest quality gemstones. Non-rounded stones may have different effects.

	Amazonite: Improves self worth. I find that I have more confidence when I wear this stone.
	Amber: Lift heaviness. Amber is great at lifting the heaviness of burdens -- allowing happiness to come through.
	Amethyst: Spiritual Upliftment. This is also the present carrier of the purple color ray. I wear a short necklace of this when I need to communicate effectively. I place this on my stomach/liver when I have stomach problems.
	Apatite: Communication. I wear this stone when there has been a misunderstanding. It is also helpful for fighting viruses.
	Aquamarine: Remind one of the ocean of love and mercy. It can help one understand difficult situations from a love-filled viewpoint. I either wear an aquamarine stone or gaze into an aquamarine crystal. I recommend aquamarine or rose quartz for those who are experiencing a lot of grief.
	Blue Aventurine: Circulation. I get very happy when I wear this stone. I also use this to help clear my congestion.
	Green Aventurine: Physical healing. I either place this around my neck or on the area where healing is needed. This is the stone I would choose for overall healing support. For major illnesses, I would use emerald and/or frosted quartz as well. Transparent Aventurine is extremely powerful - however, it needs washing daily (dry flat). Immature transparent aventurine will fade.
	Cape Amethyst: Inner alignment. This seems to balance the inner bodies (emotional, spiritual, etc.) as well as provide more energy. I use a very small sphere (4-6mm) on acupressure points for 1-5 minutes to clear energy blockages. For larger spheres (8mm), use less than a minute. Also good for arthritis - wrap strands of cape amethyst around aching joint.
	Carnelian: Balance creativity and mental processes. When my husband was wheezing from allergies, I placed this on him. He stopped wheezing within 30 seconds. When I removed it, he started wheezing again. This worked best with natural carnelian (bright orange). However, clear man-made carnelian worked on him as well. Wash carnelian under water after wearing it. Carnelian is the carrier of the orange ray.
	Chrysoprase: Spiritual protection. Thi stone allows me to work through issues without outside influences. Great when starting in management or working with large groups of people.
	Citrine: Upliftment. I wear this to help align my spine. I either place a strand along my spine or wear it around my neck. Citrine encourages the yellow ray to support the body. This stone also helps one process energy work.
	Coral: Emotional Foundation. Coral protects and strengthens one's emotional foundation.
	Diamond: Increase personal clarity. I find this aligns me with my higher purpose as well as offers many healing properties. I have had profound results with diamond therapy. (Some diamond therapists are listed under gemstone therapists.)
	Emerald: Physical and emotional healing. This is the strongest physical healing gemstone that I know. I use it by placing it on the area which needs healing or wearing it around my neck. Emerald is the carrier of the green ray.
	Green Fluorite: Hormone Balance. This stone has been helpful with hormonal changes such as PMS and menopause.
	Purple Rainbow Fluorite: Change. Helps one get out of ruts.
	Jade: Relaxation. Jade works wonders for my husband when placed on a sore shoulder or back. I have used it to reduce tension in my life. I find that I am calmer when I wear jade.
	Kunzite: Emotional Support. I use this stone to help my mind and my emotions be in sync.
	Lapis: Understand the mind. Expanding your viewpoint. It is good for connecting the heart and the mind when worn over the heart.
	Leopardskin Jasper: Bring what one needs. Note that it doesn't necessarily bring in what you want. However, it is a wonderfully supporting stone.
	Mahogany Obsidian: Decision making. It has been helpful in healing my gums as well.
	Malachite: Bring harmony into one's life. I have done many meditations with malachite to gather knowledge on gemstones and on myself.
	Moldavite: Grounding stone. Really puts one in their body. This is extremely strong -- you may wish to try black onyx for grounding first. It is rumored that it helps you talk to other sentient beings (humans and whales and dolphins). I haven't tried this.
	Grey Moonstone: Helps one accept other stone's powers by cleansing blocks. This can be hard to wear.
	Orange Moonstone: Helps one accept other stone's help by comforting you. This is less powerful than white - but helpful when one really needs a certain stone.
	White Moonstone: Helps one accept other stone's help through highlighting the others effects. I like this moonstone the most. When worn by itself is balances yin/yang.
	Moss Agate: Get in touch with nature. Plant knowledge.
	Mother of Pearl: Protection; Know mother's love. This stone is a great protective stone.
	Black Obsidian: Grounding stone. I gaze into it for a very short time (1-5 minutes) each day for 3 days when I need insight into a problem. I use black obsidian when I have been unable to understand what aquamarine has been trying to show me. This is a very strong stone. I use it sparingly.
	Black Onyx: Helps one to change bad habits. This is great when used in a necklace. I have found it helps people notice their chakras when placed on each chakra. (This can be done one chakra at a time.) It is a great grounding stone.
	Mexican Onyx: Helps one sleep better. For more details, see my Sleeping Better therapies.
	Black Opal: See self as Soul. I find this stone is great for helping one see the possibilities of how one can be all they can be. This stone seems to strengthen bones too.
	Opal: See possibilities; discover a broader view. I use opal to see all the possibilities in a situation. I find it very freeing when I feel blocked in a situation. Some people find this stone very hard to wear. I find it wonderful. A little opal can go a long way.
	Fresh Water Pearl: Enable one to accept love. See the good parts of oneself so you can love yourself and others more.
	Peridot: Brings the energies from in the aura to the physical body. This is useful after energy work -- however, one needs to be certain that they are bringing in the new energy -- not the stuff they are trying to purge. Use with caution. If you muscle test (or use a pendulum), test for it.
	Poppy Jasper: Gain a positive outlook. I find that I am very happy when I wear this stone.
	Frosted Quartz: Balance. I often place this over the chakras or wear it around my neck. It is wonderfully soothing.
	Rose Quartz: Emotional balance. Very good for expressing and soothing emotions. Try to find undyed rose quartz. I find that gold doesn't mix with rose quartz.
	Rhodonite: Emotional support. Helps one take the next step emotionally.
	Rhodocrosite: Change. Gives one confidence while making desired changes. Very supportive. One can make large changes very quickly with this stone.
	Ruby: Love; Open the heart. It allows me to overcome fear. Carrier of the red ray.
	Sapphire: Mental clarity. Clear mental garbage. Carrier of the blue ray.
	Sodalite: Protects from external negative energy. I use it by computers to help reduce the damage from EMF.
	Sunstone: Enhances contemplations. I find my meditations are clearer when I wear this stone. Also, I remember my dreams more. I use it for a few days in a row when I find I have not been remembering my dreams.
	Sugilite: Absorbs garbage from wearer's aura. I feel lighter when I wear this stone. It uplifts me and gives me more energy.
	Tanzanite: Changes. Uplifts and opens the heart.
	Green Tourmaline: Promote male balance and physical healing. I do not recommend this for females (use emerald or aventurine).
	Pink Tourmaline: Promote female balance and protection.
	Tree Agate: Introspection. Helps one view themselves with more clarity and see the world through a broader viewpoint.
	Unikite: Balances physical/emotions.
	Unknown: Discover the properties of unknown stones for yourself. Find out what is true for you. Keep your stone with you as much as possible for a week. Place it next to your bedside when you sleep at night; wear it or put it on your desk during the day. Pay attention to your moods, your interactions with others, and your dreams. Do you have any insights? Try asking the question, "What does this stone do?" before going to sleep. It may help your unconscious/higher self/your inner guide tell you what the stone does for you.

The body needs all 7 color rays: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each color ray is associated with one or more (depending on which reference you use) of the chakras.
By using the color ray that supports a particular chakra, you can speed healing of the associated areas and organs."

	Amethyst - "Stone of spirituality and contentment.  Amethyst bestows stability, strength, invigoration, and peace, the peace being the perfect peace which was present prior to birth.  It is "warm and cuddly" as well as regal and ruling.  It has been used to encourage and support sobriety.  It is an excellent stone for one who is attempting to find freedom from addictive personalities (oneself or another).  Calming, strong, protective qualities, healing, divine lone and inspiration.  Enhances one's psychic abilities.
	Amazonite - Diane likes to call this the "writers stone "because over the years it has worked well with the many writers and speakers that are drawn to our site and our shop. According to Melody, it soothes all chakras and is particularly rejuvenating to the heart center and throat chakra. It enhances communications concerning love. It can be used in the treatment in disorders of the nervous system and to dissipate energy blockages which could propagate the improper flow of neural impulses: like I said , it's a great stone for writers and other creative types that use voice or hands for a living.
	Aventurine (green) - It reinforces ones decisiveness, amplifies ones leadership qualities, and is a willing participant in instinctive action. Emotional tranquility, positive attitudes towards life, brings one into alignment with their center. Independence, health and well being , heals the heart chakra.
	Aventurine (red/orange) - This material provides reflective qualities so that one can recognize the flaws of humanity and can remain in the heart space to continue to love this same humanity. It can help one look at a situation incomplete detail, magnifying those aspects of importance. It provides for self reflection, and allows one to recognize that "In each person you see but the reflection of that which you choose to have that person be." It can be used when fasting, to reduce hunger.
	Bloodstone - Strengthens and oxygenates blood stream. Enhances physical/mental vitality. Strengthens heart, spleen, bone marrow. Aids in balancing vitamin deficiencies. Reduces emotional and mental stress. "The Stone of Courage" - also for renewal of the physical mental and emotional bodies. Another powerful healer. It helps one toward the direct union with the divine through contemplation, prayer or mediation and love. It has been used to stabilize, as necessary, the flow of blood. Also a very good gem for those in business - self employed.
	Carnelian - It protects against fear, envy, and rage, and helps to banish sorrow from the emotional structure. The message of carnelian is that since one "is" love, there is nothing to do but to offer the love - each offering of love bringing an exponential increase in the quantity of love returned. Carnelian stimulates inquisitiveness and subsequent initiative. It can assist one in drama and pursuits related to theatrical presentations.
	Fluorite - Excellent for advancement of mind, greater concentration, meditation. Helps one to grasp higher, more abstract concepts. Facilitates inter dimensional communication.
	Green Jade - Jade facilitates peace within the physical, emotional, and intellectual structures, as well as within the materialistic world. It was said to bring accord the environment, to transmute negativity and to instill resourcefulness. "Very Lucky Stone".
	Hematite - Slightly grounding, reduces stress, enhances personal magnetism, optimism, will, courage.  "Stone for the mind"  it helps one to realize that the only limitations which exist are self-limiting concepts  within the mind.  Stimulates attainment of peace, self-control, and inner happiness. Balances yin-yang energies.  Assists in the focusing of energy and emotions for balance between the body, mind, and spirit.  Helps transform negativity to the  purity of the universal light of love.
	Honey Jade - Powerful emotional balance, radiates divine unconditional love. Dispels negativity from the third chakra (solar plexus). It has been used by the ancients {and some current} primitive tribes as a sacred stone, assisting one in access to the spiritual worlds.
	Howlite - This mineral can be used to calm communication, to facilitate awareness, and to encourage emotional expression. It builds an innate decency within ones character, encouraging those attributes which are the building blocks to spirituality.
	Jasper (Leopard skin variety) - "Known as the 'supreme nurturer'. It is often worn by shamen to provide protection. It balances the yin yang energy and balances the physical, emotional, and intellectual bodies with the etheric energies. It stabilizes the aura, providing for a cleansing effect to smooth dysfunctional energies and eliminate negativity".
	Jasper (Picture jasper variety) - It can be used to further both the development and continuance of business pursuits - to provide for coordination of activities leading to increase. It has been known as "the stone of Global Awareness" - It promotes "brotherhood" to work together to save the planet. It emits an energy which promotes the spiritual affinity to achieve perfect accord between humanity and nature; It is one of the "earth Stones" for the age of redemption & cleansing of the earth. It can be used to stimulate the proper functioning of the immune system, and can be helpful in the treatment of disorder associated with skin and kidneys.
	Labradorite - (aka spectrolite) It is said to represent the "temple of the stars" , assisting one in sustaining and maintaining, while providing for the understanding of the destiny one has chosen. It assists during traverse changes, attracting strength and perseverance. It symbolizes the moon and the sun. Promotes refinement of action and discernment in direction. It allows for recognition that humanity represents "being of light", transcending the limitations of the past and thoughts of the future, and embracing the infinite possibilities of the moment. It can assist in digestion, regulation and metabolism. Also used to clarify eyes.
	Lapis Lazuli - Energizes the throat chakra. Augments strength, vitality, virility, mental clarity, illumination. Enhances psychic abilities and communication with higher self and spirit guides. Creative expression. It has also been used as a protective stone, sheltering the wearer/carrier from physical danger and psychic attacks. Lapis Lazuli is a "stone of total awareness", helping to expand awareness and intellectual capacity, and allowing for conscious attunement to the intuitive and psychic aspects of ones nature. 	Malachite - Sometimes called "the stone of transformation" assisting one in changing situations, and providing for the transfer of sacred information to spiritual evolution; clears and activates all chakras balancing and equalizing it can create an unobstructed path leading to a desired goal. Facilitates the rise of spirituality and the enhancement of psychic abilities. Protects against radiation and can be used in the treatment of asthma, swollen joints, tumors, growths, broken bones and torn muscles.
	Mother of Pearl - It signifies faith, charity, and innocence, enhances personal integrity, and helps to provide focus to ones attention. The pearl has been known as a "stone of sincerity", bring truth to situations and loyalty to a "cause". It has been used to inhibit boisterous behavior, and to provide a reflection of the self such that one may see the manner in which one appears to others.
	Onyx - "for initiating the modes of centering and alignment of the total person with the higher powers." "Can be used to banish grief, to enhance self-control, to stimulate the power of wise decision making, and to encourage happiness and good fortune". It is grounding and can be used to deflect or absorb the negativity of others.
	Quartz (clear) - "Can bring the energy of the stars into the soul". Traditionally, the natural quartz crystal was said to both harmonize and align human energies, thoughts, consciousness, emotions - with the energies of the universe and to make these greater energies available to humanity. The natural tendency of quartz is for harmony, and is recognized as a "Stone of Power". Stimulates brain function & power,  aids clarity of mind. Dispels negativity in ones energy field and environment, aligns all chakras, a very powerful healer.
	Rhodonite - Has been called "the stone of love" and helps one to achieve to his/her greatest potential. It activates and energizes the heart chakra, and conveys the resonance of unconditional love to the physical plane. It dispels anxiety and promotes coherence, bringing the user and observant nature and facilitating attention to details and interrelationships.
	Rose Quartz - It emits a calming, cooling energy which can work on all chakras to gently remove negativity and to reinstate the loving, gentle forces of self love. Good to wear in a chaotic or crisis situation. It is "the stone of gentle love" bringing peace and calm to relationships. It can be used for spiritual attunement to the energy of love. It is a rejuvenating agent for both physical body and the emotions. It is an excellent energy for healing emotional "wounds".
	Rutilated Quartz - Enhances life - force, strengthens immune systems, and brain function. Eases depression. Facilates communication, increases clairvoyance. Highly electrical, more intensity than clear quartz, transmutes negativity, enhances communication with spirit guides. A great physical healer.
	Smoky Quartz - It can be used to gently dissolve negative energies and emotional blockages. It can be used to initiate a powerful force field which will absorb many forms of negativity, both from within ones self and from other forces. It promotes personal pride and joy in living. Smoky quartz has been used to regulate creativity in business, and to encourage astute-ness in purchasing. It works to diffuse communication deficiencies and to dissolve mental and emotional blockages which limit perception and learning. (Thank you Melody, I will wear one myself).
	Snowflake Obsidian - It allows one to recognize the unnecessary pattern which remain in ones life and to re-design ones thought patters to provide relief from undesired conditions. It is "the stone of purity" and balance to the body, mind , and spirit.
	Tigereye - It is helpful for individuals seeking clarity and for those who must deal intelligently with the scattered details which must be brought together in some pattern. It can be used to enhance the psychic abilities and can assist in the gentle attunement of third eye activity. This stone is best suited to earthy people. It has been used to stimulate wealth and to enhance the stability required to maintain wealth. Produces soothing vibrations, generating a calmness to unsettled turmoil, and allowing one to enjoy the actions of being unfenced and uninhibited. Can be used to enhance self empowerment.
	Unakite - It acts to balance the emotional body, bringing it into alignment with the higher forces of spirituality. It can be used to help one go beneath the physical symptoms of dis-ease and to allow for the determination of the root cause underlying the condition; the cause becoming apparent in the cases of the physical, mental, emotional & spiritual planes of existence. It can be used in the treatment of the reproductive system, and to stimulate healthy pregnancies while facilitating the health of the unborn.
